Building a Wood Gate

Looking over your existing side yard or front entry, you've come to the conclusion you are in serious need of some repairs or replacement to your existing gate.  A good choice for replacement, whether your existing gate may be wood or metal, is a wood replacement.  It usually affords more privacy, is available in a huge choice of optional designs, finishes, and appearance.

If you're looking for a custom designed wood gate, you can find many choices on the internet; a word search for "wood gates," or looking through "Craig's List," or even checking on ebay and you will probably find someone to design, build, and even install your wood gate.  A small wood gate can be found, if it be a simple design, could be had for about four hundred dollars or so.  You may have to provide the finish yourself, it would not usually be made of the most durable materials but could provide several years of service, maybe more if it is properly maintained.

The gates I build that are of the simple designs, suitable for a replacement wood gate, start at seven hundred dollars.  I price them at a place where they are usually affordable, but extremely durable, well constructed, attractive, finished, and installed and can be expected to last for as long as you live in your home.  James Gates are built of tropical hardwoods, usually Mahogany, which is known to last indefinitely because of its resistance to rot from insect or water damage, its high density, and its ability to take a finish that looks and lasts.
